Architectural concept at dusk: a low stone and oak learning center around a courtyard of olive trees, its library windows lit

One university with a human scale.

The university sets the standard. Faculties sustain the subjects. Research groups pursue questions. Colleges give students a community. Centers are where these meet.

Architectural concept from the design, not a selected site or a certified building plan.

10,000

Active students in the mature design. Every point here is one of them.

10

Centers. A place and its facilities: library, laboratories, quiet rooms, common areas and local support.

4

Colleges to a center, forty in all. A center of 1,000 active students.

250

Students in a college, across four years, with a named mentor.

And then you are in a tutorial. Growth adds faculty, communities and dependable centers. It does not turn a tutorial into a lecture.

Two fixed center days anchor the week.

Laboratories and studios support tutorials; quiet rooms support reading and writing; common areas make informal collaboration ordinary.

The center should remain useful on the other days too: its library, laboratories and services are what make the two fixed days worth traveling for. A full center has 144 teaching and scholarship faculty and eight research professors.
